Should She Stay or Should She Go?

How do people feel about whether and how long Hillary should stay in the race?

She is hurting the party by staying in. I don't have a clever YouTube clip to go along with this, but that's my opinion. It's hurting the Party by being this close to November and still not having a united front against the evil Republicans.

I agree, Vic. For awhile, I kept thinking we have plenty of time to move past all this as a party. But then it hit me about a month ago...November is only 7 months away...now 6!

Can I just say how typical it is of Democrats to take what should be one of the easiest WH takeovers in years and potentially fuck it up? It reminds me of how so many states were fighting for gay marriage in '04. Can you...I don't know...put this issue on the ballot in a non-presidential election year?

Should she go? Absolutely. The number of articles pointing to her inability to win fairly (she'd have to poison the pool of superdelegates against Obama) attest to the solidity of this argument. But will she go? I don't think so--I think she sees this as her right and due for standing by Bill, like the party owes her something.

I can't take her--this whole new lowbrow appeal ("I'm just a drinkin' gal can't abide no 'elite' economists") makes me sick--as if a woman who can lend her campaign $10.4 million is some salt of the earth commoner. And what pandering! Ugh.

She should go and should have been gone long ago. I can admit when i was wrong, and i was WRONG!

Wow...gross thought. Dick Morris (of toe-sucking fame, so take it for what it's worth) suggests Hillary might be staying in the race so she can keep bashing Obama so he'll lose to McCain...thus giving her a chance in the 2012 election. Can you imagine if this were true? And does anyone think it couldn't be true?

Yeah Brad, losing this election to McCain is like missing a breakaway layup to win the game with 2 seconds left.

Or losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

TOTAL INSANITY

Yeah, Vic, you're right. Losing '00, '04, and '08 would be awful...probably even worse than losing the BCS national championship two years in a row.

Brad,

Typical response from a white male.

But you're not bitter, right?

OSU/Patriots jibing aside, I too think Hillary should drop. One friend mentioned the idea that, in an interest to further empower women, she is staying in it to allow Democrats in all primary states to vote for a woman as their candidate. While I like the idea of that, I think it's crap. The Democrats need to unify and mobilize around one person, not suffer continued division by someone who really has no chance any more. America's two-party system is wack. Everything gets boiled down to black-white, either-or issues, void of complexity (as evident from Obama's earlier speech on race with a nuanced view to Rev. Wright, in which he now has been forced to take a much less nuanced and much more either-or side to it.) The Left's omnipresent problem is that its self-critiques always shoot themselves in the foot. They (we) spend so much time arguing amongst each other under our punctured umbrella that we encourage defeat.
